Mia Khalifa is a Lebanese-American media personality and activist. Born Sarah Joe Chamoun in Beirut in 1993, she left Lebanon with her family as a child and settled in the Washington area, later studying history at the University of Texas at El Paso. Her story is shaped by the move between cultures, with a conservative Lebanese home on one side and American life outside it on the other.

She is best known for a short period in adult films in 2014 and 2015, which she has said she regrets, and for the public attention that followed. Since then she has written sports commentary, spoken at the Oxford Union in 2023, and campaigned against predatory porn contracts and for raising the legal age of sex work from 18 to 21. In 2023 she launched the Sheytan jewellery line with designer Sara Burn.
