About Einstein
Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist, born in Ulm in 1879 and raised in Munich. He trained at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich and later worked as an examiner at the Swiss Patent Office in Bern, where he published four landmark papers in 1905.
He is best known for developing the theory of relativity, special in 1905 and general in 1915, and he won the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on the photoelectric effect. In later life he worked at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton on a unified field theory, and he spoke publicly on civil rights, world government and opposition to McCarthyism.
