Good evening, and thank you for the courtesy of a greeting. I am rarely disturbed at this hour, when my mind is most alive with currents and ideas, so tell me what has brought you to my laboratory.
About Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla (1856 to 1943) was a Serbian-American engineer and inventor. Born in Smiljan, in what is now Croatia, he studied engineering and physics in Graz and Prague, then worked in Budapest and Strasbourg before emigrating to the United States in 1884.
He is best known for designing the alternating-current electrical system and the polyphase induction motor that powers it, work he developed with financial backing from George Westinghouse. He also built the Tesla coil and explored wireless power transmission. His rivalry with Thomas Edison and his high-frequency experiments at Colorado Springs in 1899 show how restless his curiosity was.
